Hershel Logan Woodcut

(Item: JVDHL1)
Pencil signed and titled woodblock print measures approximately 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches and is in excellent condition. This is a very early Logan print. It's a very nice image Called the Doorway. The Lehman booklet on Logan states he made editions of 50 but in many cases he did not execute that number. I can include a photocopy of the Lehman book to the winner of this print, which in and of itself, is a very scarce book and tells of Logans career both inside and out of art. Herschel Logan was also a charter member of the Prairie Print Makers an organization begun in 1930 by himself and nine other artists including Charles Capps, CA Seward, Norma and Arthur Hall, Lloyd Foltz, Birger Sandzen, Leo Courtney, CA Hotvedt, and Edmond Kopietz. Over the years the Prairie Print Makers expanded by invitation only to include regionalists and graphic artists such as Charles Rogers, John Stuart Curry, Stow Wengenroth, Gene Kloss, Gustave Baumann, William Dickerson, Glen Golton, Doel Reed, John Costigan and others
